Craving for something tasty and filling?, Nigerian shawarma would do the trick. This snack has become very popular on the streets of Nigeria and in most gatherings. Today in Afroedibles kitchen we decided to treat ourselves with wraps of tasty shawarma. Here’s the recipe!

This ingredients makes up to 8 wraps of shawarma
- 1.5 lbs of de-boned chicken breast or de-boned beef
- 1 large carrot*
- 1 big tomato*
- 1 large cucumber*/
- 2 small onions*/
- 1/2 small cabbage *
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons of oil (to stir fry)
- 1 tsp. thyme
- 1 tsp. chili powder (depending on you spicy “meter”).
- 2 bullion stock cubes
- 1 tsp. curry
- 3 dabs of onion powder
- 3 dabs of garlic salt or powder
- A dash of salt
- 8 pieces of tortilla wraps (9 pieces in case one fails)
Lets get cooking
Cut your veggies in to the directed patterns and set aside in a plate.
Cut chicken or beef into strips and set aside.
In a pan, heat up 2 tbs of oil add the chicken or beef .
Add all dry ingredients (thyme, curry, onion powder, garlic salt or powder, salt, stock cubes, and chili powder). Stir and fry till is golden brown and little bit dehydrated. set aside in a plate.
Mix up the mayonnaise and ketchup together (mayoketch).
Place your tortilla spread some mayoketch on it, on one side fill it up with sliced vegetables.
Fold your bread, and roll it into a shawarma wrap.
Voila your shawarma can be enjoyed with all necessary condiments such as tea, juice, zobo etc.
To harden you tortilla: Heat up a dry pan and place shawarma wraps till it’s crisp and golden brown.
Use leftover mayoketch as dip for your shawarma wraps.
